padded headboard inspiration

When we bought our home 4 years ago, I had a binder chocke-full of decor ideas, pictures and inspirations (yes, I know... I truly am a nerd.)

Each room in our home was decorated with utmost care and love.

We were so happy when we bought the master bedroom nightstands and wardrobe. They were a great deal and SO beautiful too! We didn't purchase the matching bed frame because I told my hubby: ''I want to make our headboard.... just wait... it will be nicest headboard you have ever laid your eyes on!''

Ummmm... that was close to 4 years ago and we still have those beautiful nightstands and wardrobe but no headboard.

But I have made a promise to myself: I will no longer sleep in a headboardless bed!!!!

Here is some eye candy to keep me motivated:

Aren't they all just gorgeous?

I have booked marked a few tutorials via blog land. But has anyone ever made their own padded headboard? any tips and or suggestions?

YES, these are all gorgeous! And I totally think you should make your own with a really pretty fabric! I love all the yellow ones especially in this post! =)

love them! i agree...with some pretty fabric you will have a beautiful headboard to complete that room! i have a few things on my list of things i have been wishing to do in my home as well.

i think the second one would be simple to do. maybe if you buy ply board according to the measurement of the size headboard you want, put some foam or batting on top of that, then wrap your fabric and then staple gun the fabric on the back (noone sees the back) might work. i'm a cheater like that when it comes to decorating thrifty....not sure if that would work though. just a thought.

Those are beyond gorgeous. You're so creative to be able to make a headboard. Good luck on that! ;D

The Design Sponge blog has a great DIY tutorial on there. I haven't tried it yet, but it's on my to-do list that I'm hoping to complete this summer.

Hi Jozen! I love, love padded headboards & my cousin & I made her headboard a few years ago. We did just what Alely L. says in her post- bought plywood cut to specific size; covered it with batting & pretty fabric; and staple-gunned the batting & fabric to the back of the headboard. It only took us one afternoon & it looked awesome! Good luck~

Oh I love padded headboards!! Love the look and sweetness to them. I too bought a dresser and nightstands that match with no headboard in hopes of making one. Hope I get to it soon :)

Definitely gorgeous. I don't have a headboard either and I think it might take me as long as you to get started on that LOL.

Haha you sound like me when you say you are going to make it yourself. I would love to make my own headboard but our new bed already has one.

Those are so beautiful and any one of them would look lovely. I hope you are able to make it. And share of course :)

Yes, they are all so gorgeous! I have a similar problem with a headboard-less bed because I have this grand plan of making one. Some day!

I've been wanting to do that for my daughter's bed, which is currently headboardless. I hope you post your progress. I could use some tips!

LOVE these headboards! i'm sure whatever you come up with will be AMAZING!

I'm definitely more of a "buyer" than a "maker" so no, I don't have any tips for you.

I do adore the headboard with the big purple/pinkish floral print on it. I don't think my husband would care for it all that much, but I'm loving that print!

the third one is my most favorite. sooooo pretty. :]

i've never made a headboard before, but i've read in decor magazines and whatnot that they're best to do on a long weekend just in case two days is not enough. because there's the structure, the padding, and then getting the fabric pulled and stapeled on just right, so there's no air bubbles. haha, yep, somehow i remember that kind of odd stuff. ;]

I LOVE this idea!! Padded headboards are so pretty. I have been wanting a leather padded headboard just about forever! Maybe this is something I should try too!!
