this past weekend we took the girls to our local fair
cotton candy, deep fried oreo cookies, whales tails, rides, games
and just good ol' fashion fun!
we have been going every summer since zoe was a year old!
so, it's become a little family tradition
when i asked hubs about what day we should go
he actually said to me
"oh, are we still going? but we just took the girls to disneyland
a few months ago..."
um.... hello!!!
you cannot compare disneyland to the fair!
it's like comparing apples to oranges
(silly hubby!)
the first thing i do every year is take photos of
both girls in front of the "how tall are you?" measuring stick
it's amazing (and a little sad) too see how much
they have grown from the previous year
and then the girls have a blast riding all the fair rides
i love this photo... they were holding hands while waiting in line
and of course you can't go to the fair without eating
we had our usual fair eats
mini donuts, ice cream, cotton candy, fresh squeezed lemonade
this year we strayed from tradition and went later on in the day
we have never stayed late into the evening before
but this year, i wanted the girls to see all the games and rides lit up
you can't tell from this photo (or maybe you can)
but i am scared to death
i am deathly afraid of heights
the girls (especially zoe) won't leave the fair
until they have taken a spin on the ferris wheel
this year i decided to try and conquer my fear and join them
i wasn't even able to enjoy the spectacular view because
i refused to look down
(all photos were obviously taken by my hubs)
to make matters worst
my hubs, zoe and pia were making fun of me!
to end off the day, we told the girls they could play one game
i don't know if they realize it
but they always choose the duck game
it was another fun filled trip to the fair
the girls conked out the moment their heads hit their carseats
like the ad for the fair says:
"it's the best part of summer!"
and if this post wasn't photo heavy enough
here is a short video of pia's first time on a roller coaster

Looks like the four of you had a blast! I love the Fair! Jozen, your sweet girls are growing up into little ladies :)
Would you believe that I have never been to the PNE? Crazy. One of these years I'll have to head over to Vancouver to experience it.
Love those little doughnuts. Mmmm. I can almost smell them!
Aren't fairs the best! I love all these pictures, especially the one of the girls holding hands...super sweet! You capture such beautiful moments!
Liesl :)
oh! that looks like so much fun!!! those doughnuts are yummy! i love the bond that the girls have, i can see bits of it between our kids too.
Looks like everyone had a great time! You cannot go wrong with festivals! Great photos! Love the colors :) By the way... I'm slightly afraid of heights, too...
what great pics! We LOVE those little doughnuts, they are sold in the "commercial" building and you can see them coming down on the little conveyor belt -- yum.

those are such sweet photos, it looks like you guys had loads of fun! i also went to the fair in toronto this past weekend :)
28 years old and I still adore a fair, any fair! I insist on dragging my boyfriend along every year. We must eat crap, win crappy toys and make ourselves feel old by getting out of breath screaming on the rides :)
SO cute! Love the video. These pictures are all great... and now you have me thirsty for a lemonade! :-)
Lovely photos, the doughnut photo makes ms very hungry, had some today, scrummy.
Jozen, your girls are just the sweetest. This fair looks like so much fun. I love how old-fashioned it was -- those are harder and harder to find these days, at least out here on the East Coast. And the doughnuts! Yes please!
