it finally happened

you can't really tell from this photo
but my zoe lost her first baby tooth!

we knew it was going to happen sooner than later
her bottom tooth has been wiggly for a while now
and the adult tooth was already peeking through

it happened during recess while she was at school
my mom happened to pick her up that day
and happened to nonchalantly mention that zoe had lost a tooth
i on the other hand immediately freaked out
"where's the tooth?!?! where's the tooth?!?!" i yelled into the phone
i was immediately ready to race to the school
and scour the entire playground for my baby's first baby tooth

but there was no need to worry on my part
the "school tooth fairy" aka the school receptionist
had given zoe a necklace with a tooth shaped container to
keep her tooth in

later on that night, she placed her tooth under her pillow for the tooth fairy
the next morning, she raced into my room
and exclaimed loudly
"mommy! the tooth fairy took my tooth and left me something!"
me: "WOW! what did she leave you??"
zoe: " she must have really liked my tooth because she left me BIG money
and a new toothbrush!!!"
FYI, the BIG money she was referring to was only 10 dollars!!

i hope 10 dollars will always be "big" money for her!

The tooth fairy is not in a recession ! My kids still get a buck ! lol but one kid in Hamzah's class got $5 bucks and explained that the tooth fairy takes each family and divides the number of teeth then decides how much to give the kids based on the cost effective equation !

Ten dollars! That tooth fairy must be investing her money in some lucrative accounts. I used to get one or two. Congrats to your little one -- what a step!

I would've searched the whole playground too, if it was my daughter's first tooth! Wow! Ten dollars. Nice tooth fairy!

how exciting. Katie is super excited, her first tooth is just getting loose. Most of her friends already have teeth out and she is anxious to get on the "tooth chart" they have at school.

Awww! How cute!! Congrats ;-) Big money!? The tooth fairy used to give me change... ha! I would even find some "sprinkled or dropped" in the hallway. Fun times!

10 dollars WOW, the tooth fairy is mighty kind over there. We will be venturing over to Canada in Summer 2013 for a few weeks so I will have to get Jacob to save up all his teeth and put them under his pillow there.

I'm not sure if I have made a bit of a mistake with the tooth fairy a few teeth back. I wrote a note saying 'nice teeth, thank you' and now there are letters to the tooth fairy with every tooth. With Santa and the tooth fairy I'm a busy, letter writing Mum.

I already feel like I'm 80 years old... "Kids these days!" Hahaha. Losing a tooth was always so fun. I think the most we ever got was a 2 dollar bill, but, that wouldn't buy you much of anything these days. We always got the little teeth containers too at school!

Congratulations! She looks adorable with the missing tooth. We were just as excited when our son lost his first tooth.

Yay for Zoe! What a cutie. And if she could only think of $10 from mom and dad as big money for the rest of her life, right?
