Everyone time I sit down to sew, Zoe always plops down beside me and says "Mommy, can I help?"I get a little nervous with her being so close to a machine with a sharp needle. So when we were at Micheals one day and she spotted this little felt coin purse kit, I thought it was the perfect 1st sewing project for her.
All the pieces came pre-cut and a blunt needle and thread were included.
I taught her how to thread the needle and then how to insert the needle back and forth between the holes.
The cherries were easy to put on since they had a adhesive back... she told me that was her favorite part.
She had such a great time "sewing" and she was so proud of her pretty coin purse.

When did you get this at Michael's? I love it! I will be looking for it -- hope they still have them! My little ones would enjoy this. They love to craft. We used the Cricut this morning -- I cut, they glue. It works out well.

Its so great that you are sewing with your girl. I still have the sewing machine I learned to sew on, it was a real sewing machine (bobbin, needle, a couple of different stitches, etc). The only thing was that it was not electric and it just had a hand crank (similar to just running your sewing machine with the round thing on the side and not the pedal). It was great and safe and I was able to sew just about anything. I don't know if you would be able to find something like this, but you could unplug a regular machine.
