photobooth fun

a few weeks ago, my cousin celebrated her 18th birthday
it's customary in the filipino culture that when a girl turns 18
she has a huge party called a debut or cotillion
(think huge birthday party almost like a wedding but without the groom)

there was a photobooth and I think my family had way too much fun

yup! way too much fun right?!?!

my favorite is the last one, where pia is trying to sneak one by herself
she either chickens out or gets caught and leaves immediately

someone also mentioned that the next debut we will be celebrating in the family
will be zoe's!
can you believe that?
i still can't get over the fact that she will be in grade 2 come this fall
i don't want to think that far ahead into the future! simply mind boggling!

ps. if you are local and looking for a photobooth company
check out onekindmedia! they did these photos!

my zoe and pia say the darndest things

on our way to church one day:
pia: God says that there are no cell phones or pagers allowed in church
zoe: what are pagers?

while sitting beside me watching television one afternoon,
an infomercial for some sort of "belly shrinking" contraption comes on
pia: momma, do you want me to buy that for you?

a few days after her first baby tooth fell out,
a second baby tooth fell out
me: we should put that under your pillow tonight
so that they toothfairy comes again
zoe: the toothfairy already has one of my baby teeth, i don't want
her to have all of my teeth, i will keep this one

pia: when i grow up i want to be a farmer and only have one cow named caramel

my pia loves to tell tall tales

just in case you needed a translation:
once upon a time
there was a bird at the playground
and it pooped on daddy's head
the end.

p.s  asked hubs his opinion on the whole bang situation. his reply was:
"please don't ask me whether or not you should get bangs because
if you don't like them, you will blame me."
well regardless, with or without his opinion, i'm going to the hair salon today...
most likely i will come out with bangs (thanks to you guys!)... wish me luck!

this is what happens...

when lola (grandma) leaves her purse unattended
little hands will happen to find the lipstick hidden in there
and will somehow know exactly where to apply it

the sun was shining...

but the laundry needed to be folded. But in the end, the sun won and the girls and I took off to the park.

The laundry can wait until tomorrow... (it's suppose to rain)

happy birthday...

to the brassiere!

Ladies, did you know that the bra turns 100 this year?

The past one hundred years we've seen many versions of the bra come and go, from the under wire to the push up to the strapless to the gel bra. We've seen them made from lace, cotton, micro-fiber and silk. It's been renamed everything from the miracle bra to the wonder bra.

But one thing remains the same: every women's never-ending quest to find the perfect bra.

Have you found yours?

a bag and a tag

I got tagged! The sweet Trishie of Under Lock and Key has tagged me. So, now I have to show you all my bag and it's contents because we all know that a girl's bag and it's contents says a lot about the girl!

1. I am a recovering bagaholic, so it was hard to choose just one! The bag I chose is easily one of my faves. It's handmade from a vintage table cloth.
2. Makeup Bag. Purchased from anthro for 8 bucks!! what a steal :)
3. Lip balm. I am a lip balm junkie! I have very sensitive lips and can only use a few select lip balms. Vaseline is perfect for my sensitive lips.
4. Smith's Rosebud Salve. Absolutely the best lip balm out there, I have been a fan for 10+ years. Soothes dry lips, calms and heals irritation, soothes the sting of minor burns. Can even be used to treat diaper rash!
5. Laura Mercier lip stain in hibiscus. I don't use lip gloss (too sticky!) and rarely wear anything on my lips besides lip balm, but when I do, I use this lip stain. It's perfect to wear everyday because it gives my lips a natural hint of colour.
6. Clinique Superbalm. I told you I was a lip balm junkie!! this was made for me... lip balm with just a hint of colour.
7. Mirror/Brush. Who knew such a thing existed? I snapped this up from Target and loved it so much, I bought one for me, and one for each of my sisters.
8. My wallet. It's designer and expensive. But I love it and that's all that counts right?
9. My phone. I am not a techy person at all, but I feel naked without my blackberry.
10. A Tide Pen. Can't leave home without it...especially if you have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. 11. My Sharpie pen. Did you know that Sharpie made pens? Well they do and they are awesome. 12. My datebook/notebook. I open this at least a dozen times a day; to write appointments down, jot down ideas, my to do lists, contact information, birthdays, the list can go on and on

What's in your bag? I tag: Lita, Sharon, Carla, Jen, Sandy , ProjectVee and Chicka-san.

Make sure you come back to this post and link up in the comments so we can all read about your bags!

fill in the blanks friday

I have wanted to participate in Lauren's fill in the blank friday's for a while now... and I'm just finally getting around to it.

So here goes....

1. When I'm nervous I get really sweaty palms. In highschool and college all the exams I turned in were soaked with sweat and the ink was usually smudged.I know...gross.

2. My favorite item in my closet is any of my dresses. I love wearing dresses. It might also be the fact the my hubby loves me in dresses too.

3. Watching trashy reality TV, drinking tea and crocheting is my favorite thing to do when I need to relax.

4. My favorite childhood memory is the annual summmer road trip we went on. We drove down along the coast and stopped in San Francisco, LA and San Diego. We had family in each city, so it was like having a family reunion every summer. We were away from home for the whole summer!

5. Something you may not know about me is that I talk to my sisters a least a few times a day. Not a day goes by that I haven't spoken to each of them at least once.

6. A true friend does not need to see you or talk to you everyday. But when you do get together, it's like no time has passed.

7. Something I hope people think of when they think of me is that I am a good mother.

do you believe ?

We almost didn't make it to the Olympic torch relay. The girls and I were a little under the weather and we were unsure about taking the girls out in such a large crowd.

Boy, was I glad that we decided to go ahead with our plans to watch the Surrey leg of the 2010 Olympic torch relay.

The excitement in the air was contagious. Zoe and Pia were absolutely enraptured by everything that was going on around them. There was lights, music, fireworks and tonnes and tonnes of people (0ver 20,000 to be exact!). It felt very vegas-ish! We were beside a group of 8 year old boys that kept yelling "Do you believe?!?" (it's the 2010 olympic slogan)

and YES! we do believe!!

(my mom and dad)

(hubby getting into the spirit of things)

(pia loved waving her flag!)

(my sisters and my future brother in law)

(the torch is coming!)

yay!!!!

proud to be canadian :)

With Vancouver hosting the world in a mere 4 days, it's the best time to show off your Canadian pride.

Why not do it fashionably?

Get this adorable "sweatshirt" from Aritizia, a canadian owned and operated super chic women's boutique that has been dressing us canadian girls for as long as I can remember.

Wear your heart on your hands! Get these adorable red mittens from Zellers for a mere 10 bucks!

Roots, another iconic canadian owned and operated boutique has come out with their own line of olympic gear. Think of it as lumber jack-tree hugger meets stylish-fashionista.

And, last but not least... the Hudson's Bay Company, which has been around for three centuries is the place to buy your official olympic gear.

Our whole family will be watching the torch relay tonight... exciting!!

Now get out there and show off your Canadian pride!

sugary sunshine

It's been really grey and gloomy around my little part of the world as of late. We decided to go and find our own sunshine in a more sugary form, also known as cupcakes.

Everyone has their favorite.

Sweet sixteen for him.

Diva for Zoe.

Sweet Sixteen for Pia.

and Koo Koo for me.

Hope it's bright and sunny in your part of the world, sugary or not.
