road trip 2011: good eats

we had so many good eats during our road trip
that i had to dedicate an entire post just for
good eats!

first up: pinkberry
we have frozen yogurt places up here in canada
but none can compare!

the girls love yogurt
make it frozen, add cool toppings like
mochi and chocolate chip crisps
and they are in heaven

this burger was delish!!!
my little family and i are by no means burger connoiseurs
but we do like burgers!
(our faves being  dick's and five guys!)

the girls gobbled up a burger each!
too bad i didn't know about their "secret menu!"

the hubs and i each had a lobsta roll from the lobsta truck
he had his with mayo, me with butter
absolutely delicious!!!

my zoe loves sushi
so she got some temari sushi from the fish lips truck

well, you know that my girls and i love cupcakes!
so of course we had to stop by sprinkles

i got my favorite: red velvet
the hubs got chocolate with vanilla butter cream icing
and both girls got chocolate with chocolate butter cream icing

i was a little sad that i couldn't cross off
#4 on my "to do" list:
their schedule just wasn't jiving with ours
oh well! just gives us another reason to come back....

thanks to ruby for all your delicious foodie suggestions!

this is officially my last road trip 2011 related post
thanks everyone for indulging me with my many, many road trip posts!!!
and a special thanks to my sweet girls and sweet husband
for letting their crazy blogger mom/wife
take photos of their food before they had a chance to eat it
(or sometimes while they eat it!)

hope your weekend is swell friends!

road trip 2011: hollywood & beverly hills

 ok
i am one of those
i love reading those trashy celebrity magazines
i might even have followed perez hilton on twitter
(please don't judge me!)

so of course i had to visit hollywood and beverly hills

of course there were no celeb sightings
(i guess they only come out during movie premieres?)

so off we went to beverly hills
we scanned the stores down rodeo drive
but decided all the stores were just
a little too "high roller" for us
so i took some pics of the girls instead

no celeb sightings there either
but that's ok because if i had seen one
i would have been too shy to approach him/her anyways

tell me, have you ever had a celeb sighting?
if so, who? and did you ask for an autograph/picture?

road trip 2011: santa monica & venice beach

once again, i proved to myself (and the hubs, though he was not surprised)
how truly nerdy i am
i brought a little (ok, maybe not so little) "to do" list on my vacation
#2 on my list:

i have only seen it in photos or in movies
it looks like such a neat place, that i had to make sure
i could cross it off my "to do" list

we had so much fun walking around the pier taking
in the sights and sounds
not to mention that the view was breath taking!

we really wanted to ride the ferris wheel, but the girls
weren't tall enough to go on...
so i guess we will have to save that for next time!

after walking around the pier, we headed to third street promenade for a little shopping
 (thanks ruby for the suggestion!)

we spent most of the day just enjoying the beautiful view
but later on in the afternoon we left santa monica to drive to venice beach

 venice beach was definitely interesting
full of interesting characters
and full of interesting clinics selling legal "medicine"
(let's just say it's not legal where i come from!)

we walked and walked around until finally
my little pia was so tired she wouldn't even smile for me anymore
that's when we knew it was time to go back to our hotel...

until next time santa monica!
we might just drive by you next time venice beach!

road trip 2011: disneyland

the main reason for our road trip was to take the
girls to the happiest place on earth: disneyland

you see, we were suppose to take zoe for her
6th birthday, but the hubs was recently
granted a great opportunity for a career change

he will be in school/training for the next 10 months
5 days a week with no holiday time available to him
so taking zoe to disneyland for her birthday in the summer was impossible

but i thought why wait?
let's do this! and so we did.

as you can see my girls were beside themselves with excitement
dancing in the streets of disneyland

when we asked them what they wanted to do they said:
see the castle where all the princesses live
meet the princesses
meet minnie mouse

they saw the magical castle

got a chance to ride the tea cups

they were able to meet princess ariel

princess tiana

and belle
they were in absolute awe of all of them... it was super cute
i don't think they could believe that they were there
right in front of them!

the longest line up we waited in was to see minnie mouse
(over an hour!)
but it was worth it!

near the end of the day, they were getting the hang of it
and telling us what they wanted to do next!

to be honest, i was a little unsure about taking my girls
on such a long road trip
but because it was so last minute, we didn't have the funds to all fly down
but the girls did awesome on the drive
and all my worrying was for nothing

you don't have to be a huge disney fan
or have watched all or even just a few of the disney movies
you don't even need to know all the characters or princesses

the moment you walk through those gates
you are transported to the most magical place on earth
it truly is the happiest place on earth
and i'm so glad that my girls were able to experience it

road trip 2011: san francisco

we were only in san francisco for one day and one night
looking back, i wish we had stayed for at least another night
the hubs and i have been here before
but i just love this city, and there is always
something to do, see or eat!

we made sure to visit the golden gate bridge

the girls kept asking me why the bridge wasn't gold
(to which, i didn't know the answer!)

we had lunch at a really cool burger joint named Flippers, hubs practically
died over the burger, it was that good.

while roaming Hayes street, we happened upon Paulette
it was absolute macaron heaven!

and i practically died over the pistachio, it was that good!

we were so sad to leave after such a short visit, but it just gives us
another reason to come back again soon!

thanks alely for your foodie suggestion, we ate there our first night
it was just perfect and only a few blocks from our hotel!
